A gumball machine is a bulk vending machine that dispenses gumballs. Now I am going to show you a video about how one works.
The first gumball machines were seen in 1907 made by Thomas Adams Gum Company. Later the Norris Manufacturing Company patented a chrome gumball machine in 1923. Gumball machines have had improvements over the last century to make them better.
An interesting thing about gumball machines is when there’s no coin you can’t turn the handle either way, but when there’s a coin you can turn the handle clockwise not anticlockwise.
The main parts are:
- The coin bin
- Dispensing disk
- Chute
- The coin mechanism

Did you know that part of the coin mechanism is the spur gear and one full revolution of the spur gear is equal to, a 1/3 of a dispensing disks revolution
